GMC Flute 8:30am
15th August 2020
Today we...
- Played The Bear Went Over the Mountain up to Summer is Icumin in.
- Played an F major scale
- Focussed on our fingering for high E and F
This week, focus on the fingerings for high E and F. Our goal is to be able to play two octaves of a F major scale. We also had a peek at the orchestra music for the end of the year - it had these two notes in them so we need to master them! We also talked a bit about fingerings - particularly around the middle to upper registers. Make sure you aren't getting lazy fingers and are playing the correct fingering for the D and E at the top of the stave. Refer to your fingering chart to help you. We also played G major scale before a piece that had G major in it. We will tackle the upper octave of this one next!
Today we...
- Played 52-22
- Learnt a new piece - Skip to My Lou.
Keep playing your four scales - C Maj, D Maj, F Major and G Major. We will add some minor's soon I think!
18th April 2020
Thanks for joining me on Zoom! I think it went as well as it could have!
This week we...
- Played our scales - we played C, D and F.
- We learnt the theory of major scales. Here's a wee video it you'd like to revise https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hs6086iRlnQ
- Played Fishermen's song, Chimes at Night and Kookaburra.
This week when you practice, ensure to be keeping up with your scales. Have a go at 2 octaves if you can! Play up to piece 55, and you may turn the page if you get bored (ie you're playing everything else perfect and you've nothing else to practice!). Also flick back to Shepherd's Hey and play this as a fingering exercise - try to see how fast you can get it.
21st March 2020
